Art Therapy

Kristina Ebsen, MA, LMFT, ATR

Tina is a Clinical Art Therapist (ATR #16-262) and Marriage and Family Therapist (CA License # 98268) specializing in person-centered work with individuals, or family members of individuals with disabilities. Clients who have seen the most benefit are often people with autism, young women or mothers, and those experiencing difficulty “adulting” or finding fulfillment and balance in their lives.

 

As board member and Clinical Director of IGNITE!, a local non-profit that offers meaningful programs for teens and adults with developmental disabilities, Tina oversees all programming in Ventura County. At the heart of this work is Kindling Studios, a program for a collective of adult artists with disabilities focused on artistry and entrepreneurship, housed at Studio Channel Islands in Camarillo, California.

Tina has worked with in the autism and disability community in Ventura County for nearly 15 years in many capacities. Tina completed her undergraduate work in Psychology locally at California State University, Channel Islands in Camarillo, California. She earned a Master of Arts in Marital & Family Therapy with a specialization in Clinical Art Therapy from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. As part of training and education, Tina gained experience working with adults, teens, children and families in individual and group settings and with a variety of challenges including severe and chronic mental illness.

Tina practices clinical art therapy, which is method of psychotherapy using the art making process and resulting art product within a therapeutic relationship and useful for treatment with adults, children, couples, and families encountering challenges of circumstances and mental health conditions. Art therapy is a specialization regulated by a credentialing body and requires master’s level education and supervised training. The American Art Therapy Association (arttherapy.org) and the Art Therapy Credentialing Board (atcb.org) are valuable resources in learning more about this profession.
